RADIESSE

1. WHAT IS RADIESSE?

Radiesse is a safe, FDA-approved dermal filler. It is made from a unique form of non-animal and non-human, stabilized hydroxyapettite. Hydroxyapettite is found primarily in our bones. Since we have the identical molecule in our own body allergic reactions are much less frequent than bovine collagen i.e. 1 in 2000 versus 3%.

2. WHERE ON MY FACE CAN RADIESSE BE USED AS A FILLER?

Radiesse is best used under the skin placement for structural augmentation. This filler can be used to fill and correct smile lines, nasolabial folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.

3. WHEN WILL I BE ABLE TO NOTICE RESULTS FROM MY TREATMENT?

The fullness achieved shortly after the placement will subside by 15%-30% within the next few days. The remainder will persist for one to many years depending on the location.

4. HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

After the first treatment, one or more additional injections (at least one week apart) of Radiesse may be necessary to achieve the desired level of correction / fullness. However, many patients achieve their desired result from just one visit.

5. WILL MY EFFECTS BE PERMANENT?

No, although the results are long lasting, they are not permanent. The calcium microspheres gradually break down and are safely and naturally absorbed. Thus, this procedure carries none of the risks associated with a permanent implant.

6. ARE THERE ANY NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH USING RADIESSE AS AN INJECTED FILLER?

After placement slight redness and swelling is expected for the following few hours to days. Side effects are those associated with any normal injection related procedure and could include mild irritation, swelling, itching, “lumpy bumpiness”, bruising, tenderness and very small chance of infection. These conditions typically resolve on their own. Similar to any other “filler material” there is a very small chance of major blood vessel occlusion.
