This is a procedure that uses a laser to treat your skin. It uses light in dual bands of the spectrum to target pigmented and vascular lesions. Most people perceive the light as a gentle “snapping” sensation, which causes little to no discomfort.
2. HOW DOES THE LASER WORK?
The laser emits pulses of light onto the skin. The light is absorbed by pigment in sunspots and blood in visible vessels, and converted into heat. The heat dissolves the cells that create the pigment and shrinks the vessels.
3. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PHOTOFACIAL?
We all want clear skin, but nature has a way of sabotaging us with frustrating imperfections. This treatment improves sun spots, age spots, dull complexion, uneven pigmentation, large pores, melasma, telangiectasias, rosacea and early signs of aging.
4. WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY PHOTOFACIAL?
Pigmented lesions will darken slightly after treatment, and then fade away after 10 to 14 days. Most people experience some mild temporary redness and swelling, similar to a sunburn in the areas treated shortly after treatment, which usually subsides within a day.
5. HOW OFTEN CAN I RECIEVE A PHOTOFACIAL?
Treatment can be given as frequently as every 3-4 weeks. Several treatments may be needed to achieve desired effects.
6.WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED BY THE LASER ?
You can treat your face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs.
7. WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF A PHOTOFACIAL?
The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. All procedures have some degree of risk. Major complications are rare.
8. WILL INSURANCE COVER A PHOTOFACIAL?
This procedure is considered cosmetic, and therefore is not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment.
